Casting is one aspect of the entertainment industry that is often hidden from public view. The people who are involved in casting often are never seen in public and recognized for what they do. In fact, they are practically never recognized for what they do, even though those who are good at what they do often make the projects they work on what they are. Take "Once Upon a Time in America" as an example: Joe Pesci, Robert Deniro, James Woods, just getting these powerhouse actors together in the same project was pure genius, and the project would not have been nearly as powerful were it not for the casting decisions that were made to get them on board.
Casting in itself is, in fact, an art form in itself. If you are chosen to act in a project, it means that those involved with the casting aspect of the production believed that you would effectively assist in making it become something great, and represent what the creators had envisioned in their heads. Casting can make or break a project.
If you are interested in casting opportunities, be sure
to always put your best foot forward, and never forget that
the difference between getting the part and getting passed
over is whether or not you are able to impress the casting
department. It is the performance you give in the process
of casting that will decide if you ultimately are able to
perform in the finished product.
